DIY// first diy of 2013! graphic tee

I am literally dying for summer to be here so I can finally wear all my pretty colorful clothes! It's still so chilly here! So while I'm still stuck inside I managed to throw together this little DIY for you. It's inspired by a graphic tee I saw on Forever21's website.

Ingredients:

And a t-shirt! I used this old tie dye one.

Measure out a triangle on your cardstock to use as a template. The base of mine was 5 inches, and each side was 7 inches.

Tape your template to your shirt to secure it. Put a piece of paper inside the shirt so that the paint won't seep through to the other side.

Start painting!

Once you have the outline painted, you can take the stencil off and fill in the rest!

Ta-dah!

Hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned for another t-shirt DIY coming soon!

DIY// tie dyed pillow cases

FASHION + DIY// cross cut out tee

I made this cross cut out t-shirt yesterday. I saw a tutorial for it on Youtube and had to give it a try. At first I drew out some of my pattern onto the shirt and started cutting but as time progressed, I found it much easier to just free hand it. I also don't know how this will be if I washed it. I'm afraid the washer would tear the strips connecting the rectangles apart and then it would be another DIY fail for me! I do want to try this again with another kind of pattern, though.

I am going to try to take lots of outfit pictures today for my Lookbook, so stay posted. I also want to make a DIY video for my Youtube, but I am not sure what on yet. Requests?

DIY// Americana shorts

Hey guys! I have a brand new DIY for you!! I am SO stoked about this. This was probably one of my favorite projects I've ever made for you. It was really fun, and it definitely put me in the mood to set off some fireworks down by the lake. But it's not quite the 4th yet, so in mean time, why don't you make these to wear on America's 236th birthday?

FASHION + DIY// jean haul + diy

I am so excited to share with you guys my newest purchase from Goodwill! I was able to buy four pairs of high-waisted jeans. I made a video here on my Youtube channel going into detail about them. I also have a DIY after the jump explaining how to cut them into shorts. I think I've touched on this this before, but this DIY is going to be more thorough.

DIY// urban outfitters challenge part II

FASHION// diy urban outfitters challenge

I always have these moments when I see something ridiculously over-priced at my favorite stores, and think, SERIOUSLY? I could make that for less than half of what their charging! Well, I had one of those moments in Charleston a week ago when I went to the local Urban Outfitters. I saw a pair of shorts that I loved, but they were charging 50 bucks a pair. And they were seriously DIY-able! So I decided, that being the craft geek that I am, I will make these shorts. So this is part 1 of 2: The Urban Outfitters Challenge.

DIY// studded choker

As promised, here is my studded choker DIY for you. As you can probably imagine, most of my DIYs before and coming up are involving studs from studsandspikes.com. Of all the planned projects, this one has been my favorite so far. It puts an instant edginess to any of your girly outfits and definitely screams rock and roll. You can also customize this of course with other embellishments other than studs if you fancy, like buttons, spikes, or sequins.

FASHION// textured jeans

image via chanel spring 2011 campaign

I saw this DIY on my tumblr and wanted your opinion. I am kinda on the fence about it and not sure if it's cool or tacky. It's so easy to do that I'm really itching to try it out. But I am afraid I won't like it and regret it.

Read the DIY and tell me what you think?

FASHION// bracelets I've made

To keep from going crazy from studying this past week, every break I take I use that time to work on some bracelets for my summer collection. I'm really excited about them and can't wait to include them on an up and coming DIY project involving "Arm Parties", or "Arm Candy." Check out some photos I took of my latest creations!

DIY// bobby pin earrings

So along with this DIY,  I'm also trying out a new photo editing site called PicMonkey. So that's why all my pictures have such lovely effects. Let me know what you think!

These are my bobby pin earrings that I talked about doing in this post. Mine are slightly different than the tutorial I followed. I used bigger pins and different colors, but the concept is still the same.

DIY// spike necklace

Alright you crazy crafters, this is another no-brainer DIY for you to enjoy. I didn't take any picture of me making it, but it's SO easy and I know you guys are SO smart that you'll figure it out. ;) I'm really digging the rocker/grunge look recently and so to spice my outfits up I made this spike necklace.

DIY// Message in a Bottle Necklace

This is SO EASY and SO CHEAP that it's silly I'm making a DIY on this. But, I enjoy making them so here you go! This little necklace is one of those crafts where you can personalize it to the extreme. You don't have to but a message in it like I did. You could but colored water for a "mad scientist" look, or colored sand art, or a little flower bud. It doesn't matter. Just go out there and make one because it's easy and it's cute!

DIY// leather hair bow

I love leather. Well, faux-leather. And I love bows. Well, hair bows. Actually I like all types of bows but hair bows have my heart. I used to make duck-tape hair bows in high school and try to sell them to my friends. It didn't work out that well...But this one is EASY and cute! And would go great with any native american prints or floral pattern. Possibilities are endless! I whipped this one up in about 10 minutes.
